Sports for Inside the House

If you have told them once, you have told them an uncountable number of times: playing sports in the house is a great way to get on your bad side. When it comes to the sports that a lot of boys (no matter what their ages) play, the ones that involve a large ball tend to get very destructive, whether they are intended to or not. This is just the way the cookie crumbles, unfortunately. Baseball, football, basketball- those are outside sports, and the boys (and of course, girls) are just going to have to put them up for the winter time. But that does not mean that every bit of fun has to end during the months (or even those off days) when the weather outside just won’t allow sports to be played.

Now, not everyone is fortunate enough to have the necessary space to have their own game room. If you do, be grateful for that. But when you see about putting games in there, make sure you have something for everybody in your home. For the younger kids, you can have simple board games and toys that don’t require too much moving around. For the kids who are a little bit older, foosball, table tennis and maybe even a pinball machine or arcade game (if you can find one in decent shape for an affordable price) are real winners.

But for the older people in your life, you can go even farther than that. While you wouldn’t want your little kids to get the wrong idea about gambling, slot machines and custom poker tables are great ideas for keeping your game room from going completely to the kids. After all, adults deserve to have a little sport in their lives, too. Just because the weather isn’t cooperating with you doesn’t mean you have to give up sports.
